Sunburned - Glak - MH85

This is a closet find 'reissue' of a CDr release from around 2007 or 2008 that slipped through the cracks when I was archiving everything around 2020.

This feels to me like a companion or epilogue to our "Spacial Crime Symbol" release from around the same time - 2007 & 2008. I hear some Europe & USA tour action (probably Ithaca College 2007), basement tapes & black-hole electrojams, 2 post-punk jangle tracks from Mick Flower's house, a Moloney & Thomas chug jam from the "Weekend at Burnie's 2" session, mixed with some of Rob's spoken word experimements that were on the samplers at the time.

I have no notes on these tracks but they were played by John Moloney / Paul Labrecque / Ron Schneiderman / MJK / Robert Thomas / Taylor Richardson / Sarah O'Shea / maybe others

'Not sure if Glak is meant to be some sort of ode to drugs, but the opening track would have me believe so as we are given a glimpse into a casual conversation on the subject. Not only that, but most of the music that follows has that early solo John Frusciante, junky vibe to it (was Glak released to finance a drug habit as well?). Warped and bleak visions of blues, abstract vocal/noise snippets and lethargic attempts at standard rock and metal are all brought to you in a not-so-neat little package which will mostly confuse, but perhaps also amuse. The album's rock-oriented material reminds me of what Mahogany Brain might sound like were they to cover some of Gong's work (I can definitely hear some vocal similarities with Daevid Allen as well). If you enjoy Sunburned in their "anything goes" mode, you'll love Glak. CD-R comes in a slim DVD case with a printed insert.'
